The average always works out. That is the trap.
You can tell anyone, to the rupee, what you sold last year, what you spent on scrap and pig iron, what the power bill was and what you paid in wages. It is all in Tally, and it is correct.
But there are things Tally cannot tell you:
- How those totals split across your 60 part numbers and your 12 customers.
- Which parts earn well, and which ones are paid for by the good ones.
- How much of the metal you buy actually leaves the gate and gets paid for.
- Whether your biggest customer, the one you have served for years, is really making you money.
So you price on a rough rate per kg, and hope the average works out. It does. The average looks comfortable while some parts lose money behind it. You are busy all year, turnover is up, and there is no money in the bank, and you genuinely do not know why.
You are not replacing your Tally. You are answering the one question it cannot answer.
